The High School Preaching Workshops began in 2001 and has served 1,200 students, ages 13-18, in 60= workshops. The workshops encourage students to fulfill their own baptismal call to “Preach the Word of God, in all things you do.”
The National College “Preaching in Action” Conference, celebrating its 15th year, is a venue where college-age students explore Dominican spirituality and preaching. From 2003-2017, 850 students have participated.www.dymusa.org/CollegePreachingconf/
The National High School Preaching Conference empowers high school students to discover and deepen the preacher within themselves through prayer, study, community and interaction with members of the Dominican Family. Each year students from Dominican High Schools gather from across the country to participate in this conference. The Dominican Young Adults USA is currently active growing throughout the nation. What started with 20 students in 2007 is continuing to grow into 2017. www.dya-usa.org
The first Dominican Hospitality House, a project of the Dominican Sisters of Amityville, opened in 2013. An intentional community located in NY provides an opportunity for young women and men to live with vowed religious and become immersed in the Dominican Charism. Since then, two additional houses – one in Wisconsin and the other in Chicago – are welcoming young people. An additional house in Springfield Illinois is coming soon..
