2021 Action Plans

We the students at Albertus Magnus will include more collaboration with the community groups and organizations outside of our campus, to bring more people into the mission of prayer, community, and service. We also hope to partner with more clubs on campus, such as the Multicultural Club, My Amigo Club, and Black Student Union to offer more multicultural programs centered on racial justice.

We, the students of Caldwell University, will host a series of events during a week around our University’s celebration of Founders Day, to highlight the Dominican value of Preaching the Signs of the Times. We will focus on issues of climate change, racism, immigration, and human trafficking.

We at Dominican College of Blauvelt will preach with our lives by highlighting mental health awareness through an activity that provides resources and engagement opportunities.

We the students at Ohio Dominican will work with Campus Ministry and Mission and Identity to plan and implement these pro-active service-based and educational events based on one of the 7 themes of Catholic Social Teaching each semester.

We, the preachers of Dominican University of California, will implement these two initiatives: create a program that integrates Alumni with Dominican Students more often by expanding programming of the Penguin Ideals Club to be more inclusive of Alumni; and, integrate off-campus Dominican Sisters into more of our campus community through frequent gathering and possibly rosary walks or hikes.

We the students at Edgewood College commit to using our new learnings to create a program event on the justice issue of human trafficking and format the exploration to reach different audiences (for example, an in-class activity, a co-curricular program, and the foundation for a Midday Prayer theme).  We are excited to work in partnership with some of our sponsoring Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa and other campus areas in crafting this contemplation and action for our community.

We, the students of Molloy College, will preach through our lived by starting programs that will build community and teach the four pillars with other students on our campus. Such programs include on-campus shrine clean-up, local outreach to nearby parishes, and Campus Ministries pop-ups on campus.

2019 Action Plans

Albertus Magnus:  We the students of Albertus Magnus College will focus on embracing the need for environmental sustainability on campus.  We plan to raise our concerns to the appropriate people on campus and advocate for a change due to what we learned this week.  We will also assist our Dominican campus ministry in various environmental based service projects throughout the upcoming year.

We also plan to create a mural on our campus where everyone can see in order to spread the message “Keep and Open Mind” which is the message this conference focused itself on.  We also plan to include within the mural all the issues discussed such as hunger, immigration, and human trafficking with inspiring quotes separating them to promote change and light the fires of those back at Albertus like ours were here.Christian Carroco

Aquinas College:  We the students of Aquinas College will help our campus cultivate an environment of dialogue amongst Catholics, Christians, and on Christians on Aquinas College Campus.

St. Thomas Aquinas College:  We the students of St. Thomas Aquinas College will finalize and grow our Dominican Young Adult USA chapter and use that voice to spread knowledge about the plight of refugees entering the United States.

Xavier University:  We the students of Xavier University will promote advocacy and awareness for campus ministry, by leading various spiritual activities for the Xavier community (for ex:  we would like to have an awareness day where we provide a full background on what/who campus ministry is, who is welcome, all about the Catholic faith, and the issues our community if facing (Human Trafficking, immigration, and climate change).

We also plan to provide a food pantry to assist with food insecurity on our campus.  Not only is college extremely hard but it is also expensive. Having to worry about where your next meal is coming from shouldn’t be something the student concern about.
